What is Scrip?
There are many forms of Scrip. 

 
SCRIP Gift Cards & Certificates - This “substitute money” can be used every day just like cash at many retail and restaurant locations in our neighborhood.  For every dollar you spend through SCRIP our school earns up to 25%!  You can buy SCRIP before and after school Monday through Friday on the black top near the K-1 class room and PE Closet.

 
eScrip - When you register your grocery club cards, department store cards and debit/credit cards, every purchase you make with those cards at over 150 merchants (like Safeway, Macy’s, OfficeMax, and others) will earn up to 10%.  Please use group id 137225438 when registering your cards at www.escrip.com.

 
Community Partners  
• Neighborhood retailers (like Hicklebees and Office Depot)  will donate various percentages of your purchases simply by mentioning our school’s name at check out. 
• Target will donate 1% of your REDCard purchases once you register it and designate Los Alamitos.
• Nob Hill (Raley’s, Bellair) will donate a percentage of your Quality of Life Card purchases once you register it and designate Los Alamitos

 
SchoolPop - When you make purchases on line through www.SchoolPop.com with merchants like Best-Buy, L.L. Bean and Wal-Mart, our school will receive a donation of up to 17% of your purchase. 

 


 
How do I buy SCRIP?
Stop by the SCRIP table (located between room K-1 & K-2) before or after school Monday through Thursday or before school on Friday.  You can down load and complete the order form in advance (see link below) or use one from the SCRIP table.  Payment is accepted in cash or check and most orders can be filled completely year round.

 
You can also submit an order through your child’s “White Envelope” (used by all teachers to send flyers and completed work home each Friday) and request that the SCRIP be held for you at the SCRIP table or sent home in the following Friday’s “White Envelope.”

Can I buy SCRIP other than what is listed on the Order Form?
We stock the SCRIP products that historically have been the most popular with our Los Alamitos families.  But, many others are available.  A complete list of SCRIP that can be “special ordered” is available at the SCRIP table.  You can also contact Tammy Parcella at 623-5758 or e-mail is parcella@sbcglobal.net to inquire about other SCRIP.

 

What is our goal?
Los Alamitos' goal is to maintain a state standardized music curriculum that is sequential in nature, building upon concepts learned in previous years.  The curriculum integrates Kodaly music fundamentals, theatrical experiences and instrumental instruction, particularly the recorder. While grants provided by Cultural Initiatives of Silicon Valley (CISV), and The Valley Foundation, had initially funded our music instruction, the program must NOW be financially self-sustainable.

Why do we need Scrip?
The Los Alamitos music program needs fund-raising support to keep us going. K-3 music instruction at Los Alamitos depends solely upon funds raised through the Scrip program. The district does not fund it at all.

 
Where are we now?
The K-3 Music Program is 100% financially self sustained through Scrip fund-raising efforts in their various forms.
Fund-raising is therefore continuous and never-ending!

 
How can YOU help the Music Program?
Los Alamitos needs 100% participation from all of our families by using the Scrip program. We need your immediate and extended family! Please show your commitment to this important program by participating in at least two forms of Scrip fund-raising. Studies prove music's value in early childhood education. Between the various forms of Scrip, some are most certainly in line with your family's way of managing household expenses and gift giving. Scrip program does not cost anything extra, it is simply a way of doing business that profits our school. We thank you for your willingness to "learn how" and for your  continued support.
