The National PTA Reflection Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. It provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by an annual theme.

The 2009 Reflections Program Theme is ….

“Beauty Is...”

Students may create an original piece of artwork based on the interpretation of the theme in one of six categories:

Film Production

Dance Choreography

Musical Composition

Photography

Visual Arts

Literature

It is critical that the theme “Beauty Is...” is reflected in the student’s work. Interpretation of the theme along with artistic merit is the primary criteria for judging.

(1) Each entry must be your child's original creation.
(2) Interpretation of the theme is more important than technique!
(3) Each entry must follow rules of size & content for its arts area.
(4) Each entry must have a fully completed entry form attached to it!
(5) Entries with incomplete entry forms will be disqualified.

Reflections Program awards are given at the local, district, state, and national levels. National award–winning entries are showcased in the PTA Reflections Program gallery at www.pta.org.

Participation is open to all Los Alamitos students. Each student’s entry will be submitted by the following grade levels:  Primary  (PK – 2), Intermediate (3 – 5). All entries must adhere to guidelines and size criteria as outlined in the Reflection Program Guidelines.

Please encourage your child to participate in the Reflections Program.  It is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. If your child is interested in participating, please fill out the participation request and return to your child’s teacher to receive the program guidelines and entry form.
