Classroom Webpage Guidelines
Ideas for Teacher Websites at Los Alamitos Elementary School
Thank you for considering working with your child's teacher to help design
a classroom website. Many of our teachers would like class websites, but are a
little hesitant because they fear it will cause them to have more work to
complete. Anything that you can do to work on the project with minimal
requirements from the teacher would be greatly appreciated.
Some Ideas for Things to Have on the Website
- Teacher Wish List
- Dates of Big Classroom Events
- Class Newsletter - if teacher wants to have it posted each week/month
- Grading Period & Policies Calendar
- Field trips
- Book reports
- Spelling Lists for that grade level
- Info about the Teacher
- Student Artwork
- Student Projects
Posting Student Work
Check with the teacher to determine if any parent requested their child's
work not be posted. Children's work can be posted with their first name, if no
objection by parent
i.e. Doug's photo, Katelyn's drawing
Posting Student/Class Photos
Before posting a photo with students, check with the teacher to determine
if any parent requested their child not be photographed. Do not identify
children by name. Make sure that all children visible in the photo are
appropriately presented (no inappropriate poses, fingers, etc.)
Posting Links to Other Helpful Websites
If you include links to other websites, visit the site yourself to make
sure it is appropriate for children. Be sure that your classroom page
includes a link back to Los Alamitos' Website.

How to Connect and Get The Classroom Website "Up"
Our school website is managed by a parent volunteer - Nicole Ison. She
can create a link to jump off to each of the individual classroom pages.
Because Nicole does a great deal of volunteer work and we don't want to add to
her workload either, she asks that you publish the new website page to a
separate website so she can just link to your pages. This will allow you (and
the parent who follows you next year) the opportunity to update the pages
